About the Polaroid Paintings

Using an old Polaroid SX-70 camera, impressionistic images were created by manipulating the instant film's pliable emulsion.

After warming the print, I use a variety of blunt tools to carefully move the emulsion until I create the desired effect. It's tedious but when it works, I love the look and feel of these images.

I began using this technique in 1991 after seeing photos done by my friend and fellow photographer, Glenn Matsumura.
